Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence at MAF Associates
Since our founding in October 2015, MAF Associates has been driven by a clear purpose: to be the experts and trusted advisors in the roofing and cladding sector. Over the past decade, we’ve built a reputation for delivering independent, expert witness services, and providing comprehensive risk assessments for complex buildings.
A Response to a Crisis
Our journey took a significant turn following the tragic events of Grenfell Tower in 2017. The fire exposed critical shortcomings within the cladding and external wall industry, particularly a dire shortage of highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals capable of understanding the complexities of cladding systems on high-rise buildings.
Michael Fox, our founder, was outspoken about the vulnerabilities caused by the use of combustible materials in building façades. His strong stance, that combustible materials have no place on residential high-rise buildings, resonated throughout our company’s ongoing mission. The Grenfell tragedy underscored the urgent need for expertise, integrity, and uncompromising standards in the industry.
Evolving with the Industry
In response, MAF Associates has expanded far beyond our initial expertise as external wall assessors. Today, we are regarded as specialists in complex risk assessments for tall and intricate buildings, integrating fire safety, structural stability, and environmental factors. In recent years, we’ve further diversified into traditional fire engineering, structural assessments, and consultancy services, delivering a multi-disciplinary approach to building safety.
Our team of experts now includes specialists in structural, mechanical, and fire engineering, allowing us to deliver holistic, integrated assessments that address every facet of fire and structural safety. We work with clients to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and protect lives and property.
Looking to the Future
As we celebrate a decade of growth and achievement, we are excited to announce the next chapter for MAF Associates. We are establishing a dedicated Technical Centre, where we will train the next generation of professionals, including graduate engineers, clerks of works, and building inspectors. This centre aims to foster in-depth expertise, innovation, and leadership within the industry.
Welcoming New Talent and Building a Shared Future
At MAF Associates, we are proud to share an important update on our continued growth and evolution as a business. Our commitment has always been to ensure that we have the right people, skills, and resources in place to support our clients across a wide range of projects and the latest developments reflect just that.

Together, these appointments enhance our ability to deliver the highest standards of service, while ensuring we remain resilient and future-ready.
Moving Towards Employee Ownership
In parallel with this growth, we are excited to confirm that MAF Associates will transition into an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) later this year. This is a significant milestone in our journey, one that reflects our commitment to building a stable, sustainable business where every team member shares in our success.
Becoming employee-owned is about more than just structure, it’s about culture, accountability, and long-term continuity. It ensures that our clients benefit from a business where every employee has a vested interest in delivering quality, value, and consistency on every project.
Looking Ahead
We are extremely grateful for the trust our clients continue to place in us. With our expanded team and the move towards employee ownership, we are confident that MAF Associates is better positioned than ever to deliver exceptional service and lasting value across the projects we undertake.
We look forward to the future – together.
